CAMANCHE, Iowa — A fire severely damaged a Camanche, Iowa, home Friday, according to Camanche Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Moore.

The fire was reported at 1:04 p.m. at 2939 Oakwood Trail.

The home, a 33,977-square-foot, two-story frame home is owned by Michael Van Horn and Alicia Tenboer, according to the Clinton County Assessor’s electronic records.

Moore said that firefighters arrived on the scene to find the home full of smoke. The fire was put out with about 4,000 gallons of water, he added.

No one was at home at the time of the blaze and two pets died in the fire.

The fire department was on the scene for about 5½ hours, Moore said.

Damage is estimated at $150,000 to the structure and $50,000 to the contents.

According to the Clinton County Assessor’s electronic records, the home is valued at $161,970.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Camanche Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal.
