Jeb Bush to attend Iowa fundraiser

DES MOINES — Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, a possible 2016 Republican presidential candidate, will make his first Iowa appearance March 6 when he attends a fundraising event for 3rd District U.S. Rep. David Young at Living History Farms, the congressman announced Monday.

“We have exciting news to share: Former Governor Jeb Bush is joining me at Living History Farms in Urbandale,” the GOP congressman said in an email to supporters. The event will be at 7 p.m. on that Friday.

One day later, Bush is scheduled to join 10 other presidential candidates who have committed to attend an Iowa Agriculture Summit being organized by Iowa Republican entrepreneur and philanthropist Bruce Rastetter at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.

“Unfortunately, just a few weeks ago, the liberal Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced that I am one of 15 Republicans that they will be targeting to defeat in 2016,” Young said in announcing the March 6 fundraiser. “They will be aggressively recruiting opponents and raising money to defeat me, which is why I am very excited that former Gov. Jeb Bush has offered to be a special guest at a fundraising reception to kick off my 2016 effort and help ensure I have the resources to win next year.”
