U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos declared victory Tuesday, winning her third term in the 17th Congressional District.
Bustos, a Democrat from Moline, defended her seat and defeated Republican Patrick Harlan, of Galesburg.
Around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday with 86 of 120 precincts, or 71.7 percent, reporting, Bustos had 33,046 votes or 63 percent, to Harlan's 19,369 votes, or 37 percent.
She waited for Tuesday's poll results, and celebrated her win at the Rock Island County Democratic Party's celebration party at the Rock Island Holiday Inn.
Bustos, a former journalist and health-care executive, sits on the House Agriculture Committee and Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and has championed the return of passenger rail service to the Quad-Cities.
Harlan, a fuel truck driver for Casey's General Stores, is president of the Knox County Tea Party.
The 17th District includes the Illinois Quad-Cities, as well as parts of Peoria and Winnebago counties.
