Moline police are searching for a man who robbed a Dollar General store at gunpoint Wednesday.

Moline Police Detective Scott Williams said that shortly after 7 p.m. a man walked into the Dollar General at 5420 4th Ave. and placed a black semi-automatic handgun into the clerk’s back and demanded money.

After the clerk opened the register and gave the suspect the money, the man fled westbound.

The man is described as black, of medium height but overweight. He was wearing a dark stocking cap, sunglasses and a puffy dark coat with an emblem on the chest.

Illinois State Police crime scene technicians processed the scene.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers of the Quad-Cities at 309-762-9500. A cash reward is being offered on information that leads to an arrest of the man.
