BURLINGTON, Iowa — Herman Culps Jr., 61, of Burlington passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.
A visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon Friday, with a memorial service following at noon at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family.
Herman was born on July 7, 1952, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, son of Josephine Culps and Herman Wilson Sr. He moved to Davenport in 1962. Herman retired from J.I. Case in 2006 as a machinist.
He loved playing cards, dominos and basketball. He was an avid walker, and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Herman is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Lutrice "Tammy" Lewis, Burlington; children, Justin Culps (Andrea), Lindamarlane-Shelby Township, Mich., Jamiel Culps (Tashonna), Burlington, Alecia Tot, Davenport, Dedrick Westbrook, East Moline, and Tamera Williams, Dietrick Williams, Kaisha Anderson and LeeAlan Anderson, all of Burlington; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Rebecca Hardy of Minnesota, Jolene McSwain, of California, Lenora Sally (MacArthur), of Colorado, and Sandra Bullock, of Greenville, S.C.; brothers, Steve Culps, Moline, Pastor Jerome Green (Cynthia) Moline; and a great host of nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Randy Culps.
