BLUE GRASS - Juan A. Nodarse, 63, of Blue Grass, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 11, 2017, at his home. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday from 2 until 5 p.m. at the American Legion, 106 S. Juniata St, Blue Grass. Keeping with Juan’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial at a later date.

Juan Alberto Nodarse was born December 20, 1953, in Matanzas, Cuba, a son of Samuel and Olga (Serra) Nodarse. He was united in marriage to Tammy Stark on June 23, 1979, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf.
Juan owned and operated The Marketing Advantage for over 10 years and had previously been the Director of Marketing at Palmer College.
Juan was devoted to his family and enjoyed the times when they were all together. He was the founder of the Striker Soccer Club, where he coached for eight years, guiding teams to multiple state cups, regional and national tournament appearances. He also coached varsity girl’s soccer teams at Davenport North High School. Juan also enjoyed his daily walks with his sidekick and canine companion, Callie.
Juan is survived by his wife, Tammy, Blue Grass, children, Jaime (Gustavo) Barrera, Corpus Christi, Texas, Kelly (Andrew) Burkett, Winterset, Iowa, and Kyle Nodarse, North Liberty, Iowa; granddaughters, McKenzie and Samantha Burkett, his mother, Olga Nodarse, Lakeland, Florida., mother-in-law, Nancy Lindsay, Eldridge, siblings, Olga Chao, Samuel Nodarse, Xuchitl Coso, and Guillermo Nodarse; a brother-in-law, Chuck Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
