EAST MOLINE — Maurice (Morry) James Leahy, 77, of East Moline, died on February 12, 2018, at home surrounded by his family.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2018, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Afterward at 6 p.m., his son, Steve, will review some of Morry's life's highlights. Anyone wishing to remain at the funeral home to listen or contribute their story is welcome.
Morry was born on January 12, 1941, in Joliet, Ill., to John and Vadeline (Crepel) Leahy. He began working at the Joliet Arsenal in 1958, married Lana Glenney, in Wilmington, Ill., in 1963, transferred to the R.I.A. in 1973, and was employed there until his retirement in 1999.
When bowling leagues ended, he looked forward to every spring when golf began. But he was best known for his love of Corvettes and car shows.
Preceding him in death were his parents and only sibling, Jack Leahy, of Homewood, Ill., who died in 1974.
He is survived by his widow, Lana; daughter, Mitzi Yordy, Moline; sons, James (Sharon) Leahy, Wheaton, and Stephen (Maria) Leahy, Milwaukee; four grandsons, Nate (Tomica) Teager, Simon and Sean Leahy and Jake Wilcox.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society's Discovery Shop.
