DAVENPORT - Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Sue Wamsley, 92, a resident of Davenport will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 417 Main St., downtown Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. The family will greet friends Sunday from 1 until 3 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., Davenport. There will be a prayer service at 1 p.m. to begin the visitation.
Sue died Wednesday, September 13, 2017, in her sleep at her son and daughter-in-law's home in Rock Island.
She was born August 10, 1925 in Lyons, Nebraska, a daughter of Wallace and Lizzie (Erpson) Redding. She was united in marriage to Marion “Red” Wamsley on August 5, 1945. He preceded her in death November 22, 1986.
She had worked many years for the Knights of Columbus.
She was affectionately known as “Nebraska Sue” by her many friends and recognized for her extensive hat collection. She loved gardening, her dog Buddy, and bird watching, and was an avid reader. Sue was a loyal fan of Nebraska Cornhusker football and enjoyed watching the games with her family and friends.

Those left to honor her memory include a daughter, Sherry (John) Adams; sons, Mark (Toni) Wamsley, and Matt (Kristy) Wamsley; daughters-in-law, Lynne Wamsley and Sandy Dolan-Wamsley; and nearly two dozen grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by children, Kim, Scott, Brian and Bradley, as well as all her siblings.
