One person was taken into custody from a home on the 2300 block of 19th Avenue in Moline in what Rock Island County Sheriff Gerry Bustos said was service of a drug warrant.

Moline and Rock Island Police responded Saturday evening in what appeared to be a standoff. A robot and a K9 unit was sent into the home and the front door was demolished. An arrest was made shortly after 9:30 p.m.

Bustos said the deputies were being cautious.

During the standoff dozens of residents watched from the steps of their homes or stood in their yards, cellphones in hand recording it all.

Matt Pouwels said at 8:45 p.m. that he had been on the scene watching for about an hour or 90 minutes.

Pouwels said that every little while the a deputy on the bull horn would ask the occupants of the home to come out with their hands up.

"Somebody came out the back, and then they changed the wording from occupants to occupant," Pouwels said.

Liz Miller said her fiancee told her about something going on and she went outside to see what was happening.

As deputies began the process of going into the home, police asked people to return to their homes for safety as officers were concerned weapons fire would occur.

Bustos said more information would be released when deputies concluded their search of the home, which was likely to take some time.

No injuries were reported.
