Davenport police are asking for the public's help in finding the person who strangled a 32-year-old Rock Island woman and left her along the banks of the Mississippi River.

Police are looking for informa-

tion from anyone who saw Yvonne "Bonnie" Nicholson on Saturday night, Sunday or Mon-

day morning, according to a prepared statement from the police department. They say she frequented Buck's Tap, 725 12th St., Rock Island; Baldies, 1643 11th St., Rock Island; and possibly downtown Davenport.

In addition to issuing the news release and posting fliers around the community, police also are posting a photograph of Nicholson on the Quad-City Times Video Pages cable television channel.

Police usually post photographs of the area's most wanted criminals on Video Pages. This time, they are asking any viewers who saw Nicholson or have heard anything about her death to call.

"We're trying a new avenue and trying to reach more people," Lt. Dennis Kern said. "We're approaching a new technology as another means of conducting investigations."

Nicholson was found dead Monday morning by two men driving along South Concord Street. Her body was partially submerged in the water about five feet from shore and about 75 feet from the road.

She was wearing a sweatshirt, shorts and socks. She had been released from prison 10 days before her body was found, Illinois Department of Corrections records show.

Nicholson will be buried today in Rock Island. Her family declined comment when contacted Friday by the Quad-City Times.
