LYNDON — The Whiteside County Sheriff's Office on Sunday night responded to multiple accidents on Interstate 88 two miles east of Lyndon.
At 5:51 p.m., deputies responded to a straight truck on its side across both westbound lanes of I-88 at mile marker 28. According to the sheriff's office, it appeared the truck, driven by Antonio Diaz, 27, of Chicago, was traveling east on I-88 when Diaz lost control of it.
The truck traveled across both eastbound lanes, through the median and rolled onto its passenger side in the westbound lanes. Diaz was uninjured in the crash and cited for driving too fast for conditions.
At 6:20 p.m. Sunday, while on the scene of the roll-over, deputies handled a rear-end collision by vehicles stopped for the crash. Hai Ngoc Tu, 56, of Troy, Ohio, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident when Tu crashed into the rear of a vehicle driven by Jacob A. Snyder, 24, of Johnston, Iowa.
Half an hour later, while still at the scene, deputies saw an eastbound I-88 vehicle lose control, travel across both eastbound lanes and through the median before rolling twice and landing on its wheels. The driver, Cassidy Waters, 25, of Naperville, and her passenger, Melissa Waters, 25, of Toledo, were taken to CGH Medical Center in Sterling for treatment and evaluation. Cassidy was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
Five minutes later, Korey J. L. Rodriguez, 26, of Rockford, was traveling east on I-88 when he lost control of his vehicle, entered the south ditch and rolled. Rodriguez was uninjured and cited for driving too fast for conditions.
