UPDATE: Bettendorf High School, in consultation with the Bettendorf Police Department, has completely lifted the lockdown provisions in place this afternoon.
EARLIER UPDATE: From Bettendorf High school: Bettendorf High School is now on a modified lockdown. We had information earlier this afternoon involving a young person who was exhibiting unstable and self-threatening behavior. Out of an abundance of caution, the Bettendorf police department has swept through our building and determined said individual is not on our campus. Through the remainder of the day, senior students with an off block will be permitted to leave campus. Everyone else should report to 4th block class as normal. Students are permitted to transition within the building; however, parents, guests or visitors will not be permitted to enter BHS through the end of the day.
EARLIER UPDATE: Bettendorf Police were called to the high school to assist with finding a student, according to Lauran Haldeman from the City of Bettendorf.
EARLIER REPORT: The Bettendorf Police Department is on the scene and is assisting. According to an email sent out by the school everyone is safe. There has been no critical incident or any injuries to anyone.

Students off campus for lunch are advised to stay off campus until further notice.
Parents are advised not come to the campus as it will interfere with the ability to manage the situation.
EARLIER REPORT: Bettendorf High School is currently on lockdown, according to a message sent out by the school district. The message says there is no imminent threat and that the move is strictly precautionary.
