    Feb. 15, 2012 REPORT: MUSCATINE - In the warmth of Roger and Sarah Lande's living room, Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping sat on a sofa between the couple on Wednesday, surrounded by the "old friends" he never forgot from his 1985 trip here.

      MUSCATINE — A secluded block near the city’s downtown became the scene of a loud protest over Chinese policies, particularly toward Tibet, as demonstrators shouted over one another a block from where Vice President Xi Jinping met with Iowans he befriended here 27 years ago.

      DES MOINES — Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping and his entourage landed at the Iowa Air National Guard airstrip in Des Moines’ southwest side at 7:27 p.m.

      DES MOINES —– Hundreds of protesters hoisted banners and carried coffins as they marched on the Capitol grounds Wednesday, chanting for a free Tibet and calling the guest of honor at a state dinner Wednesday night a “tyrant.”
