Traffic camera settles accident dispute
The red-light cameras in Davenport have caused much controversy for residents, out-of-towners and Iowa state legislators.
This is not the view of my daughter, who was involved in a minor fender-bender in one of those red-light camera zones. She was returning to work after letting her dog out on her lunch break.
Her vehicle, according to her, was struck when the other vehicle started to cross into her lane. That driver had a passenger with them and both of them stated that the opposite was true.
The police were called and upon arrival, they heard both sides of the incident, after which they viewed the camera footage of the accident. It showed that my daughter was right, as it showed the other vehicle in both lanes. The camera settled the dispute and the officer issued a ticket for improper lane change to the second driver.
It would be fair to say that had it not been for the camera, that would not have been the case.
My daughter likes the cameras!
