It has happened so many times. I cry and I cannot be the only one. A poor, helpless dog, Bambi, emaciated, left to die. Now, more dogs in a Clinton house with no water, heat, or electricity, and the woman there says they got into a fight she couldn’t stop. I suppose that counts for all the blood and feces all over. Yet another school shooting leaving 14 teens and three adults dead.

We read about child abuse, elder abuse, domestic violence, shots fired — sometimes hitting intended or unintended people, killing them -- bullying and road rage. Stop. Look at our movies, video games, listen to the music. And you wonder where this comes from.

What does give me hope? Students peacefully saying, “enough” to their lawmakers. Sadly, but places opening to help protect those in abusive situations. Foster families. Neighbors watching out for each other. And, Bambi’s wagging tail that says, “I trust you,” even after all she has been through. She still has hope. So do I.
