I am extremely disappointed the Times chose not to cover the annual "The Big Dance" show choir competition hosted by Davenport North this past Saturday. Eight QC-area show choirs were among the 16 groups that rocked the North gym from 8 a.m. until after midnight. Prep and varsity show choirs from Central, Bettendorf and Muscatine competed, along with exhibition performances by North's prep group Center Stage and varsity group Northside Establishment.
However, it’s not too late. The Times should still run an article recognizing the efforts of the talented young men and women who performed at TBD2018, and the dozens of parents, alums, students and school staff who worked tirelessly to put on a first-class competition.
If not, I guess if nothing else this letter gives the show choirs at Bettendorf, Central and West time to prepare themselves for the Times not covering their upcoming “Rhythm on the Riverbend” and “Great River” competitions. After all, why would our local paper cover one local high school’s competition but not another?
