Erika Kate is the recipient of Necker’s Gift of Giving for the month of July. A portion of all proceeds from this month will go to benefit EKHA and its mission of helping to ease the emotional
EKHA was founded in 2007 by Rich and Traci Maynard, just a few months after losing their daughter Erika at age four due to complications from a heart transplant. Their journey revealed the lack of resources available to families with children with a severe heart disease. EKHA was founded as a grassroots effort to create a sustainable national assistance program for cardiac families.
We operate primarily from donations of individual supporters. People wanting to help as well as those we have served, who are now able to ease another families burdens. Funds are allocated to families as their needs arise. We have served over 500 different families.
Our current fundraising event is the Young Hope Basketball Academy.
The Young Hope Basketball Academy will be hosted/coached by Jamie Young, an assistant coach of the Boston Celtics. He will be joined by a volunteer staff from across the country. All registration proceeds will directly benefit cardiac families through EKHA. The camp is July 28-August 1 at the PepsiCo Center at Augustana College. Boys and girls who are entering 2nd-8th grades may sign up.
Times are: 9a-12pm for the 2nd-5th grades, 1pm-4pm for 6-8th grades.
