Northwestern’s six conference games have been decided by a combined 37 points and the lone blemish on the Wildcats’ conference record is a 20-17 loss to East Division leader Michigan. Northwestern has won 11 of its last 12 games against Big Ten opponents including a 17-10 overtime win over Iowa a year ago, Quarterback Clayton Thorson decided that game with a 1-yard touchdown run. This season, the Wildcats’ senior averages 248.5 passing yards per game. Flynn Nagel has been his favorite receiver, ranking fourth in the Big Ten with averages of 7.3 receptions and 90.3 receiving yards per game. Northwestern’s Blake Gallagher leads the conference with an average of 10 tackles per game, work complemented by the 6.8 tackles averaged by linebacker Paddy Fisher and the play of defensive back Montre Hartage, second in the Big Ten in passed defended.
