What: Maryland (4-2, 2-1)
Where: Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City
When: Saturday, 11 a.m.
FYI: The roller coaster ride that has been the Maryland season rolls into Iowa City for next weekend’s homecoming game. Under interim coach Matt Canada, the Terrapins have mirrored the performance of quarterback Kasim Hill. Maryland is unbeaten when he throws for more than 100 yards and winless when he finishes under that mark. Two weeks after becoming the only team to beat Texas so far this season, the Terrapins lost to a Temple team that was beaten by FCS program Villanova. In Big Ten play, a 29-point win over Minnesota was followed by a 21-point loss to Michigan preceded Saturday’s 27-point victory against Rutgers. Anthony McFarland and Ty Johnson lead a balanced ground attack, averaging 65 and 60.6 yards per game respectively. Linebacker Tre Watson, a graduate transfer from Illinois, shares the Big Ten lead in tackles with an average of 9.8 per game and joins cornerback Tino Ellis in ranking among conference leaders in interceptions. The Terrapins’ Isaiah Davis, a linebacker, also ranks among Big Ten leaders with an average of 7.8 tackles per game.
