Iowa offensive lineman Alaric Jackson was named this morning by the Football Writers Association of American to its freshman all-American team.
The redshirt freshman from Detroit started all 12 regular season games at left tackle for the Hawkeyes, helping the Hawkeyes to an 8-5 record against a schedule which included regular-season games against nine teams which played in bowl games.
The 6-foot-7, 320-pound Jackson is a graduate of Renaissance High School in Detroit and will be one of three returning starters on the Hawkeye offensive line next season.
He was one of six Big Ten players named to the 30-player team named by the FWAA.
Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor and center Tyler Bladasz, Nebraska receiver JD Spielman, Northwestern linebacker Paddy Fisher and Michigan punt returner Donovan Peoples-Jones were also named to the team.
