Friday night's MAC report

BETTENDORF 49, BURLINGTON 10: Class 4A ninth-ranked Bettendorf racked up 428 yards of offense and 25 first downs Friday night to race past Burlington at Bracewell Stadium.

John McLaughlin rushed for 151 yards and two scores, and the senior also had a 55-yard punt return for a touchdown to propel the Bulldogs to 6-1.

"Our running backs ran hard, and our offensive line played well," Bettendorf coach Aaron Wiley said. "We always want to control the line of scrimmage. It gives our guys ability to make plays."

Quarterback Cyle Cox completed 11 of 23 throws for 160 yards and two touchdowns. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, held the Grayhounds to 63 yards rushing on 31 attempts.

"I thought we played pretty well on defense and didn't give them the big play," Wiley said.

CLINTON 37, DAVENPORT WEST 23: Davenport West held a one-point lead at halftime, but Clinton exploded for 31 points in the second half to move above .500 for the season.

Receiver Brady Ernst and tailback Alex Caldwell had touchdowns for the River Kings in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Clinton (4-3) finishes the season with road games at Pleasant Valley and Bettendorf, while West (0-7) saw its losing streak swell to 11 games.
