Competing in her final high school match on her home course, Kewanee senior girls' golf standout Mya Mirocha made sure Monday's IHSA Class 1A Kewanee Sectional would not be her final prep meet. She shot a 5-over par 77 to place fourth individually and book a trip to this weekend's state meet in Decatur. It is Mirocha's second state trip, having qualified with the Boilermaker team in 2019. Joining her will be Ridgewood's Gracie Russell, Rockridge's Hannah Graves and Orion's Sofia Fernandez, all first-time state qualifiers.

Despite graduating several key seniors, the Riverdale and Sherrard boys' golf teams have regrouped and continued to play at a high level this fall. A runner-up at last year's Lincoln Trail Conference girls' golf meet, Ridgewood's Gracie Russell was poised to take the next step at the 2022 Railsplitter, and she did so. The AlWood High School sophomore shot a 6-over par 79 to cruise to her first individual LTC title, finishing 14 strokes ahead of her nearest competition. In the team standings, United repeated as LTC champions with 445 strokes, 20 ahead of second-place Mercer County.

The Rockridge High School girls' golf team repeated as Three Rivers Conference team champions Wednesday, shooting an 384 to top meet host Kewanee (401) for the title. Top five finishes by Hannah Graves (second place with an 83) and Amelia Rursch (fifth, 97) led the way for the Rockets. Individually, the Boilermakers' Mya Mirocha shot an 80 and repeated as individual conference champion.

Champions of the Three Rivers Conference in 2021, the Rockridge High School girls' golf club missed out on a sectional team berth by eight strokes. Returning three starters from last year's team, the Rockets have picked up where they left off, posting an 8-1 dual meet record and a first-place finish at the Princeton Ryder Cup tournament.
