Forward Mickey Lang was released from his player tryout contract with the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs on Saturday, clearing the way for the second-year player to return to the Quad-City Mallards.
The 26-year-old Lang played Friday night in Rockford’s 2-1 loss to the Chicago Wolves, making his AHL debut with the Chicago Blackhawks’ affiliate in the 100th professional game of his career. He did not score in the contest and did not record a penalty minute.
Lang ranks fifth in the Central Hockey League with 47 points and 22 goals in 38 games, leading the Mallards in both offensive categories. The Mallards will return to the ice Tuesday night at i wireless Center against rival Bloomington.
