State-qualifying bowling: Iowa high school bowling teams look to qualify for the state tournament with coed state-qualifying meets.
In Class 3A, Dubuque and Muscatine are the host sites for area schools. The 2A schools head to Clinton or Mount Pleasant while most 1A area schools will be in Maquoketa or Dubuque.
Illinois regional girls basketball: Rock Island, Moline and Geneseo begin their postseason journeys with Class 4A and 3A regional play.
Rock Island is in Pekin and plays the winner of United Township and Bloomington at 6 p.m. Moline travels to Bradley-Bourbonnais to face Danville. In 3A, Geneseo faces East Peoria or Peoria Notre Dame in Peoria.
Regional championships are contested Thursday and Friday nights.
State wrestling duals: Davenport Assumption and North Scott compete for state duals crown Wednesday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
The Lancers (23-3) open at 9 a.m. against second-seeded West Des Moines Valley in Class 3A. The Knights (14-5) begin at 11 a.m. in a Class 2A 4-5 matchup versus West Delaware. Championship and third-place matches are slated for 6:30 p.m.
State wrestling tournaments: Iowa and Illinois begin their respective three-day state tournaments. The Iowa tournament is held at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines while Illinois wrestlers converge on the State Farm Center in Champaign.
There will be 53 wrestlers from the Quad-Cities area competing in Iowa, including eight from Bettendorf and seven from North Scott. Assumption's Matt Robertson and Julien Broderson along with West Liberty's Bryce Esmoil seek to defend their titles.
On the Illinois side, 31 wrestlers from the area will be competing. Fulton's Tyler Fleetwood aims for a three-peat while Orion's Logan Lee also is back to defend his title. Erie-Prophetstown's Garrett Passmore, Mercer County's Stone Engle and Geneseo's Billy Blaser are among others chasing gold.
MAC boys hoops season ends: North Scott and Pleasant Valley begin the final week of the regular season tied for the Mississippi Athletic Conference lead in boys basketball at 14-2 in league play.
The Lancers close the regular season with a trip to Clinton. The Spartans welcome the state's leading scorer Joe Wieskamp and Muscatine to town.
Regional girls basketball: It is regional final night for Iowa girls basketball teams in Class 3A. Meanwhile, 4A and 5A schools play regional semifinals.
If Assumption gets past Tipton on Wednesday, it would play Camanche or Central Lee in a regional final at PV at 5 p.m. PV, Bettendorf and North Scott are hosting regional semifinal games at 7 p.m.
St. Ambrose hosts conference track: The new St. Ambrose Wellness and Recreation Center will host the two-day Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships for men and women.
While some finals will be held Friday beginning at 4 p.m., the majority will be part of second-day competition that includes the final events of the heptathlon starting at 10 a.m. and track and field events start at noon. Admission is $5, and bleacher seating is available on the infield as well as seating in the upstairs lobby.
