Michigan State at Iowa basketball: Fifth-ranked Michigan State comes to Carver-Hawkeye Arena in what is the only meeting of the regular season between the teams.
The Spartans (22-3, 10-2) are two games in back of league-leading Purdue. Miles Bridges leads five Michigan State players in double figures at 17.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Iowa (12-13, 3-9) has won its last two home games. The game tips at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
Regional dual team wrestling: Davenport Assumption, West Liberty and Wilton will be vying for a trip to state duals in Des Moines.
In Class 2A, Assumption opens with a regional semifinal dual at home against Mount Vernon. The winner faces Washington or Dyersville Beckman in the final later that evening. West Liberty also is at home and welcomes Columbus/WMU, Sollon and Independence.
Wilton, competing in 1A, travels to Lisbon to face Pekin. Should it win, it likely would meet second-ranked Lisbon.
Regional dual wrestling, 3A style: North Scott and Bettendorf are among the 24 teams in Class 3A seeking to reach the state dual tournament. The Lancers will host a regional final against Cedar Rapids Kennedy or Mount Pleasant.
Bettendorf hits the road to face Waverly-Shell Rock in Dubuque. The winner faces Dubuque Hempstead in the final.
Regional titles on line: Illinois will decide regional girls basketball titles in Class 1A and 2A.
Annawan, undefeated and ranked No. 1 in 1A, is at Ottawa Marquette. Second-seeded Wethersfield hosts a regional. Riverdale is among the host locations for area schools in 2A along with Knoxville.
Iowa state swimming: The Iowa boys state swim meet moves from Marshalltown to Iowa City for the first time. Ankeny and Ames are among the team favorites, but Bettendorf and Pleasant Valley are projected to finish inside the top six of the team standings.
Bettendorf is represented in 10 of the 11 events. PV will have at least one entry in nine. The Bulldogs finished third in the team race a season ago.
State berths on the line: High school wrestlers in Iowa and Illinois will compete for a trip to their respective state tournament with district (Iowa) and sectional (Illinois) competition.
In Iowa, the area Class 3A schools will compete at Western Dubuque or Dubuque Senior. Central DeWitt and Fairfield are the host sites in Class 2A while most of the area 1A talent will meet in Wilton.
On the Illinois side, Alton (3A), Sycamore (2A) and Oregon (1A) are the sites.
Mallards wrap up homestand: The Quad-City Mallards wrap up their season-long six-game homestand with a game against the rival Fort Wayne Komets at 7 p.m.
The Mallards enter the week on a three-game winning streak and are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games.
Iowa faces No. 1: The Iowa wrestling team finishes its Big Ten schedule with a 7 p.m. dual at top-ranked Penn State.
The meet, televised by BTN, will feature a No. 1 vs. No. 2 match-up at 149 pounds where the Hawkeyes' second-ranked Brandon Sorensen puts his 18-0 record on the line against the Nittany Lions' top-rated Zain Retherford.
