The hit of the 1997 Broadway season is coming to Pleasant Valley High School this weekend.
“Chicago” will be performed tonight, Friday and Saturday. All performances are at 7 p.m. The Tony-award winning musical is based on the play written by Maurine Dallas Watkins (a reporter who found people were fascinated by the details of the murder trials she covered.)
In razzle dazzle, Roaring ’20s Chicago, married Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover. Roxie and Velma Kelly (another murderess on death row) vie for the spotlight and the headlines, hoping the publicity will catapult them to fame, freedom and successful stage careers.
The Pleasant valley High School production is directed and choreographed by Christina Myatt with technical direction by Bill Myatt and musical direction by Drew Anderson. The cast features Kelsey Francis as Roxie Hart, Sam Pauley as Velma Kelly, Spencer Hering as defense attorney Billy Flynn, Kelsey McCauley as the Matron, and Cody Leubken as Roxie’s husband Amos.

Tickets for the show are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. Dinner theatre will be Saturday night. On a trial basis, all Pleasant Valley drama event tickets can be purchased ahead of time online with a credit card or activity pass at showtix4u.com.
