Due to inclement weather heading toward the Quad-Cities, the Arconic Jr. Bix is delayed for 90 minutes from its original start time.Â
The Arconic Jr. Bix will begin at 7:30 p.m., Laura Torgerud, Quad-City Times Bix 7 operations director shared in an e-mail.Â
The sky above the Quad-City Times building is cloudy as storms move into the Quad-Cities, causing the Arconic Jr. Bix to be delayed.Â
The decision, she said, was made in coordination with the National Weather Service and local safety officials to ensure the safety of participants, volunteers and spectators.Â
"The safety of our runners, volunteers, spectators, and community remains our top priority," she said.Â
The National Weather Service Quad-Cities is forecasting heavy rain, lightning and a flash food watch for the region.Â
Torgerud said in a 6 p.m. update that after further consultation with the National Weather Service and local officials, the Jr. Bix would be moving ahead with holding the event at 7:30 p.m.

Though the forecast does not call for lightning after 7 p.m., she said, Bix 7 officials still reserve the right to potentially delay or cancel the event at anytime for safety.Â
