Roughly 24 hours after thousands of runners passed underneath the canopy of a large tree on McClellan Boulevard, it fell across the roadway.Â
Davenport city crews made quick work of the tree, which blocked the roadway, on Sunday. By Monday, all that was left was a large stump and a gapped fence.Â
Organizers likely breathed a sigh of relief the tree did not fall during the Quad-City Times Bix 7 race, during which thousands of runners and walkers race through the historic McClellan Heights District.Â

Crews worked quickly to clear a tree that fell across McClellan Boulevard Sunday, just about 24 hours after thousands of runners passed under it during the Quad-City Times Bix 7. This stump was all that was left of the tree by mid-morning Monday, July 28, 2025.Â
