Pets aren't allowed to run the race, but plenty showed up to watch Saturday's Quad-City Times Bix 7.
All she did was run the 7-mile course in 54 minutes, 17 seconds to win the women’s 65-69 age group by a margin of about 6 ½ minutes.
A group of Quad-City Times Bix 7 security volunteers told the stories of why they worked the race and how they met.
"I've run it a total of four times, and then I moved into this house, and I said, 'I want to host a party!'"

Thousands of runners pick up water for drinking (to stay hydrated) or drenching (to stay cool). And it takes a well-oiled (or watered) machine to keep things running smoothly.
“My plan was not to go for the record," Everlyn Kemboi said. "I will get that someday. Today, it was just to win.”
Bix runners "Slip 'n Slide" through the competitive revelry that is Bix 7 Saturday. Quad-City Times reporter Nina Baker was there to capture all the color.
It was the first Bix 7 appearance for El Youssfi, who is a relative newcomer to the U.S. road racing scene.
A pair of second-time competitors at the Quad-City Times Bix 7 claimed first place in the men's and women's Prairie Farms Quick Bix on Saturday.
