Lunardi's Italian Restaurant, operating for 37 years, has closed
The longtime family-owned Lunardi's Italian Restaurant in Davenport has closed.
The Italian restaurant was located at 102 E. Kimberly Road, situated in the Northtown Plaza strip mall.
The Lunardi family and staff announced the news on Facebook on Thursday, June 11.
"Celebrating 37 years of Lunardi’s - our final farewell. After 37 incredible years of family ownership, memories, and authentic Italian cooking, we have been forced to make the sudden decision to permanently close our doors," the post read. Their final day of operations was last weekend.
The restaurant owners planned to close at the end of summer for retirement, but had to close early after losing their liquor license due to a database error.
On June 5, 1989, Terry Lunardi first opened these doors with a dream to bring true, made-from-scratch Italian food. Paul — Terry's nephew — was right there beside him on day one. Over nearly four decades, Paul poured his life into this restaurant, proudly working his way up from dishwasher, to cook, to manager, and eventually taking over the family legacy as full owner in 2009.
YELO, known as YELO Cupcakes & Bubble Tea, moves to NorthPark Mall
YELO, formerly known as YELO Cupcakes and Bubble Tea, has a new name and new location.
The women-owned Asian fusion restaurant was previously located inside SouthPark Mall in Moline. YELO, serving Asian fusion food, drinks and treats, moved inside NorthPark Mall in Davenport, at Mall Entrance 4, next to JCPenney's.
"In 2024-25, we were at SouthPark Mall as a bubble tea store, however due to low traffic at the mall and too much driving distance since we reside in Davenport, we decided it's not worth keeping the business," said Claire Agan owner of YELO. "For six months, we were just kinda looking around and waiting for the place and opportunity to open or at least continue our business, however we were not in a hurry to jump in again as we enjoyed the free time."
NorthPark Mall management contacted them asking if they would be interested in the former Osaka Sushi Bar location inside the mall, and that's when the business spirt kicked in again for Claire.
YELO had to change their business structure since they weren't allowed to carry bubble tea anymore at their new location at NorthPark Mall. There are two other stores within the mall that serve bubble tea.
"As of now, we offer various kinds of short order food treats thoughtfully designed for busy shoppers and also for a unique trip mall experience." The YELO Chill and Grill Menu specializing in Filipino and American fusion desserts such as chicken Inasal, empanadas, Halo-Halo, poke bowls, snow cones, and Lotus energy drinks.
