Pop-culture retail chain BoxLunch opens at NorthPark Mall
Pop culture fans have a new store to check out at NorthPark Mall.
BoxLunch is a specialty retailer offering pop culture merchandise, apparel, accessories, collectibles, home goods and gifts. The new store is located next to Journeys inside NorthPark Mall.
BoxLunch features merchandise inspired by popular movies, television shows, anime, video games and other entertainment franchises.
“We are excited to welcome Box Lunch to NorthPark Mall,” Sean Ferguson, marketing manager for NorthPark Mall, said in a news release. “Its distinctive mix of pop culture merchandise will be a great addition to our retail lineup and offer another fun shopping experience for our guests.”

BoxLunch also has a partnership with Feeding America, where for every $10 spent in-store or online, BoxLunch provides a meal through Feeding America's network of food banks.
Operation hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and noon-6 p.m. Sunday.

NuKole’s Grub On Wheels has opened a new kitchen inside The Sport Bar and Lounge, located at 1113 Mound St. in Davenport.

The locally owned and operated bar and grill is now open seven days a week.
Bourbons Bar & Grill announced on Facebook Friday, Aug. 7, that it has added Mondays to its schedule. The business said it is thrilled to be able to hang out with customers every day of the week.
Bourbons Bar & Grill is located at 119 E. 22nd Ave. A in Coal Valley.
The kitchen is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., while the bar is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Curbside pickup is also available.
Bourbons' operating hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Geneseo Quilt Gallery opens in Smith Studio & Gallery
The Geneseo Quilt Guild is partnering with the Smith Studio and Gallery for a new place to visit in downtown Geneseo called the Geneseo Quilt Gallery.
Now on exhibit at the Geneseo Quilt Gallery is the second seasonal showcase featuring quilts created by members of the Geneseo Quilt Guild. The Geneseo Quilt Gallery is located inside the Smith Studio and Gallery, in the upper mezzanine, 124 S. State St., in downtown Geneseo.
“The Garden Patch” sewn and quilted by Mary LoGiudice is on display at the Geneseo Quilt Gallery.
The colorful and artistic creations highlight the skill and creativity of local quilters while demonstrating the many reasons quilts are made. One featured quilt, titled Y2K Millennium Charm Quilt, will be on display. It took more than 22 years to complete and contains 2,000 individual pieces contributed from across the United States as well as Guam, France, Russia, Saudi Arabia and several other countries.
Admission is free and open to the public. The Smith Studio and Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Keystone Academy & Early Learning, a new day care in Bettendorf, opens
Keystone Academy & Early Learning, a full-time childcare and preschool, opened under new ownership in Bettendorf. It is located at 3340 Utica Ridge Road, in the same building that previously housed Northeastern Academy and Early Learning Center, which closed in May.
In a July 30 Facebook post, Keystone Academy & Early Learning said, "We've spent months preparing to create a safe, welcoming environment where children feel loved, families feel supported, and learning happens through meaningful play every day.”
