MUSCATINE, Iowa – You don’t need to be a marathon runner to take care of your health. Small, simple choices—like a daily walk or a more nutritious breakfast—can make a meaningful difference in both mental and physical well-being.
Iowans across the state will take part in the 16th Annual Healthiest State Walk on Wednesday, October 7, a statewide initiative encouraging residents to step outside for a 30-minute walk. Workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and community groups are invited to participate in whatever way works best for them.
Here in Muscatine, the City of Muscatine invites all residents to join a community walk along the riverfront. City staff will gather at 12:15 p.m. at the Mississippi Harvest (Clam Man) statue and walk together for 30 minutes. Everyone is welcome—bring a coworker, a friend, or simply yourself.
If you can’t make the riverfront walk, there are plenty of other ways to get involved:
Walk the Y Outdoor Trail at your own pace starting at noon.
Organize a walk with friends, family, or coworkers at a location that fits your schedule.
Take a solo walk—every step counts and every participant helps strengthen the statewide effort.
Participants are encouraged to snap a photo and share it using #HealthiestWalkMuscatine to help showcase Muscatine’s commitment to healthier living.
Take the first step—literally—toward a healthier you.
