New Bettendorf YMCA Water Park at The Landing to open Memorial Day weekend

The YMCA Water Park at The Landing, 2255 Middle Road, Bettendorf, will open to the public Saturday, May 24.

The YMCA of Iowa Mississippi Valley and city of Bettendorf split the cost to build the $18 million water park, which the YMCA will operate. It replaces the former Splash Landing at the corner of Middle Road and 23rd Street in Bettendorf. 

The new water park will feature 

• A zero-depth entry main pool area, built with ninja bars and two rock climbing walls
• Three full-sized water slides
• Lazy river
• Kids zone with smaller water slides and a water dump bucket

The park also has male, female and family locker rooms and shower areas and a concession stand. 

Members of the YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley will be able to enter the water park at no additional cost. Memberships can be purchased at the front desk of the park. Those without memberships can purchase admission to the park for a fee of $8 for youth under the age of 18, $14 for adults and $20 for a family. 

Operating hours for the public will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The YMCA will also hold swimming and diving lessons during the mornings as well as open swimming for certain summer camps. The facility can be rented out after hours for group outings and parties. To do so, contact Josh Whitson at jwhitson@ymcaimv.org for more information. 

Bettendorf opened the Landing Ice Rink next to the water park this winter. 

"The City of Bettendorf and the YMCA have collaborated as both a government and nonprofit to create a much larger and nicer water park than either of us could have done by ourselves," Brad Martell, president and CEO of YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley said in a news release. "Through collaboration, both members and taxpayers save money by two community organizations working together."
