Bettendorf City Council member Scott Naumann to move, run for 4th Ward

Scott Naumann, who has represented eastern Bettendorf's 2nd Ward on the city council since 2010, is relocating to the more central 4th Ward to care for family, he announced in a news release Thursday. 

Naumann intends to resign his current seat and run for election to represent the 4th Ward in the municipal elections on Nov. 4. 

The current 4th Ward alderman, Greg Adamson, has said he will not run for reelection, citing a recent health diagnosis. 

According to Naumann's news release, he enters the race with Adamson's endorsement. 

"Scott has been a trusted colleague for over a decade, and I know firsthand the energy, compassion, and leadership he brings to Bettendorf's City Council," Adamson said in the news release. "I can think of no one better to continue the work we've started for the residents of the Fourth Ward."  

Naumann was first elected in 2009 and has served as the mayor pro-tem since 2019. 

Naumann said he will step down from the 2nd Ward seat once he relocates and will begin the campaign to serve the 4th Ward. 

"Serving the people of Bettendorf's 2nd Ward has been one of the greatest honors of my life," Naumann said in the news release. "While this move is driven by family, my dedication to Bettendorf remains as strong as ever." 

Naumann is the director of business development for Milestone Construction Group, according to his LinkedIn page. He has been on several boards and commissions since first elected, including the Iowa League of Cities Legislative Police Committee, the governor's Iowa State Workforce Development Board, the Empowering Abilities board, the Davenport Rotary Club and the Bi-State Regional Commission board.

Pleasant Valley School Board member Jameson Smith has also announced a run for the 4th Ward council seat.

Filing started Monday in the Nov. 4 city school elections candidates for locally elected office in Scott County other than Davenport, which has a primary. The deadline for candidates to file paperwork to run for local elected office in communities without primaries in Iowa is 5 p.m. Sept. 18.
