MUSCATINE, Iowa – In observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2026, most City of Muscatine departments will be closed as we honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country and our freedoms.
Public safety services
The Muscatine Police and Fire Departments will remain fully staffed for emergency response; however, administrative offices will be closed.

- In case of emergency, dial 9-1-1.
Solid Waste Division
- The Muscatine Transfer Station and Compost Facility will be closed on Monday, May 25, and will reopen for regular hours on Tuesday, May 26.

Curbside collection schedule adjustments
- There will be no curbside collection of refuse, yard waste, bulky waste, or recycling on Monday, May 25.
- Bulky waste collection will also be suspended on Tuesday, May 26.
- To schedule bulky waste pickup, call (563) 264-5865 or email bulkywaste@muscatineiowa.gov.
Modified refuse and recycling schedule
- Monday (May 25) refuse collection will occur on Tuesday (May 26) alongside regular Tuesday pickups.
- Recycling (Week A):
- Monday route → collected Tuesday
- Tuesday route → Wednesday
- Wednesday route → Thursday
- Thursday route → Friday
- Friday route → Saturday
MuscaBus
Public transit services will be suspended on Monday, May 25. Regular service will resume Tuesday, May 26.
Musser Public Library & HNI Community Center
The Musser Public Library & HNI Community Center will be closed on Sunday, May 24, and Monday, May 25. Normal operations resume on Tuesday, May 26.
Muscatine Art Center
The Muscatine Art Center will be closed on Sunday, May 24, and Monday, May 25. The Art Center will reopen on Tuesday, May 26.
City administrative offices
All City administrative offices will reopen and resume normal business hours at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26.
