MUSCATINE, Iowa — The Muscatine Fire Department responded to a garage fire Sunday afternoon that caused an estimated $50,000 in damage but resulted in no injuries.
At 4:24 p.m. on Oct. 11, 2026, the Muscatine Joint Communications Center (MUSCOM) received a 911 call reporting a structure fire at 1254 Dale Street. Fire crews arrived on scene within three minutes and found heavy fire coming from a detached garage. All occupants had safely exited the area prior to firefighters' arrival.
Crews immediately initiated an aggressive fire attack, extinguishing the main body of the fire and preventing the flames from spreading to a neighboring garage. Firefighters operated two handlines and brought the fire under control within seven minutes of arrival.
The garage sustained severe damage and is considered a total loss. All residents were accounted for, and no civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
Fire investigators responded to the scene and are working to determine the cause of the fire. The cause remains under investigation; however, there are currently no indications that the fire was intentionally set.
Nine firefighters from the Muscatine Fire Department responded to the incident. The Fruitland Fire Department provided automatic aid with five firefighters, and the Muscatine Police Department assisted at the scene with three officers.
