There is a new food truck serving up Texas style barbeque out of a 1993 fire truck. Skinny's Fiya Truck made it debut on Wednesday, Feb. 11, and is parked at the historic Hose Station 7 located at 1354 W. Fourth Street in Davenport. Â
Owner and founder, Cord Kleist, of Skinny's Barbeque in Muscatine, announced the launch of the new food truck. Kleist and his partner, Chris Rogers, bought the fire truck and had it built out as a food truck. Rogers owns the historic Hose Station No. 7, where Kleist operates the food truck behind, just a few blocks West of downtown Davenport.
Skinny's Fiya Truck has smoked meats five days a week. Among the meat items are brisket, pulled pork, baby back ribs, chicken wings, Reubens, pastrami and more. Skinny's Fiya is on Door Dash. Click here to view menu.Â

The Castle Alterations & Creations opens new shop in Davenport
The Castle Alterations & Creations is a new by-appointment clothing alterations shop in the Quad-Cities. The alterations and creations shop is located at the Salons and Studios building, 4610 Utica Ridge Road, Studio 134, in Davenport. The Castle offers alterations for apparel items ranging from casual to special occasion. The shop also creates memorial items from sentimental fabrics brought in by customers.Â
Gracie McAvoy, owner of The Castle Alterations & Creations, is an Illinois-based designer, seamstress, and costumer. McAvoy opened her new shop in January and is working on getting a business phone number. DaaBIN STORE Davenport opens in NorthPark Mall
Looking for a one-of-a-kind treasure or a good deal? DaaBIN STORE may have it. The new family-friendly liquidations bin store held its grand opening on Saturday, Feb. 21. The new family-friendly liquidations bin store is across from Von Maur inside NorthPark Mall in Davenport.
There are at least 64 DaaBINS that are filled with overstock and return items, commonly from major online retailers. None of their inventory is carried over from week to week. They take out what does not sell and replace it with all new items.Â
Each week starts on Saturday with a whole new load of inventory and its pricing changes daily. Note: The store is closed on Thursday and Friday.
Each day, the price per bin item decreases. For Saturday, all bin items are $8 each; Sunday, all bin items are $5 each; Monday, all bin items are $3 each; Tuesday, all bin items are $2 each, and Wednesday, all bin items are $1 each.Â

The liquidation bin store accepts cash, credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, and other contactless payments. Gift cards are available. The store is wheelchair accessible and allows wheelchairs, walkers, scooters and etc.Â

Ribbon cutting ceremony for The Read Art Gallery
The Read Art Gallery/Scott Community College/Eastern Iowa Community Colleges will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25. The Read Art Gallery is located in the Scott Community College Belmont Campus, outside of the library – 500 Belmont Road in Riverdale, Iowa.
Read Art Gallery has been located in the SCC library until it found a new home in the Belmont Campus. It will make its public debut on Wednesday, Feb. 25, in this newly dedicated space, outside of the library. The Read Art Gallery has hosted artist from the Quad Cities, Iowa City and beyond. The Read Art Gallery will host student artists in its debut show and in April, will host a visiting artist.

A new Mexican restaurant, Taquizas Los Jarochos Breakfast & Restaurant, is set to open in East Moline this week.
The Mexican restaurant will open at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held by The Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
The new Mexican restaurant is located at 561 17th Ave., in the former La Luz Mexican Restaurant that closed earlier this month.
