Wilton Candy Kitchen announces new hours
The Wilton Candy Kitchen is located at 322 Cedar St. in Wilton, Iowa. The candy store and ice cream shop announced they will be closings on Sundays beginning Nov. 15.
Wilton Candy Kitchen has been in the Wilton community for more than 115 years, serving as a gathering place for generations of families, friends and travelers alike.
Established as a confectionery in 1860, the business evolved into a restaurant, soda fountain, and ice cream parlor. In 1910, Gus Nopoulos rebranded it as The Candy Kitchen, a name that has endured for over a century.
With changing times, the business is now changing its hours from seven days a week to being closed on Sundays.
“Growing up, Sunday was always a day for family,” said Lynn and Brenda Ochiltree, owners of the Wilton Candy Kitchen. “After many years of continuing the seven-day tradition, we feel it’s time to honor that same value within our own family. We’re confident our customers will understand and support this change — and simply shift their Candy Kitchen visits to another day of the week.”
