Benny's Pizza to open second location in Orion
Benny's Pizza in Milan will be opening a second location in Orion. The popular pizza joint, known for its pizzas, calzones, and tomato salads, will open its second location in the former The O Kitchen & Tap, 306 10th Avenue in Orion.
Benny's Pizza announced the news on Facebook on May 30.
"Yes, it’s true. All the rumors are true Benny's fans. Shawn and Wendy will be opening a second location and will be serving Benny's pizza — calzone — Italian beef — burgers — sandwiches, and appetizers, and yes, there will be tomato salads!," the post read. "And yes, the Benny's pizza in Milan will stay open as is. Same great pizza — calzone — tomato salad."
More details are expected to be shared and they hope to be open in Orion in the middle of June. Stay tuned to Benny's Pizza Facebook page for updates.

Benny's Pizza, of Milan, switched over to summer hours. Operation summer hours are 4-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 3-9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. Benny's has indoor and outdoor dining, carryout, and DoorDash delivery.
Walcott Commons & Coliseum Event Center grand opening party
There's a new place to gather, celebrate and connect in Walcott.
Owners Felisha Downs-Lacher and Bret Lacher renovated The Coliseum into The Walcott Commons serving coffee, breakfast and lunch, and into a new event center.
The Lachers are inviting the public to the grand opening party for their new event center at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 12. There will be live music at 7 p.m. by Lynn Allen, food trucks outside with ice cold drinks inside.
Walcott Commons & Coliseum Event Center is located at 1116 E. Bryant St. in Walcott.
In April the Lachers announced they are the new owners of The Walcott Commons, also known as The Coliseum.
"This is more than just a building — it’s the start of something big. We’re bringing new life, new energy, and a space our community has truly been needing," they said in their Facebook post. "Our vision? A place where people come together. For coffee. For events. For connection. For community. We’re pouring our hearts into this, and we can’t wait to open the doors and welcome you in."

Sizzle & Smash, a family-owned restaurant serving smash burgers, is open in Davenport.
The new restaurant is located at 4751 Progress Drive in Davenport, between Candy's Back Bar and Flip's Pancake House - Utica Ridge.
Operation hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 11 a.m.-midnight Friday and Saturday. The restaurant will be closed on Sundays.

The taco truck booking fee deposit has been lowered to a flat $250 for private events. Bonbon's Tacos announced the change on Facebook on Wednesday.
The booking fee covers:
- Your event's specific date and time are secured and blocked off.
- Minimal expenses for the truck, gas, and wear and tear.
- An appropriate number of staff to serve your event.
The booking fee is non-refundable once payment is accepted and booking is confirmed.
