Kyle Sager, owner of Goldie's Deli, has been in the industry for about 15 years. Sager said he always wanted to own his place, and he had the opportunity to do just that with Goldie's Deli.
Sager was working at the Riverview Roadhouse bar above Goldie’s Deli when his business partner, Mikey Loy, gave him a job at a low point at his life.
"I worked my way up to manager and we became close friends. LeClaire was needing a deli, and it got brought up in a late-night conversation and almost two years, later we are open and serving sandwiches," Sager said.Â

Sager came up with the name Goldie's Deli through a life experience.
"I got injured while working at a rock quarry. Split my lip open, knocked a bunch of teeth out and almost killed me. I decided to get a gold tooth to remember that life is short. And got the nickname 'Goldie' because of the gold tooth," he said.
The Gustav, a sandwich named after owner Kyle Sager's grandfather Gustav Sager, has turkey topped with pepperoni, salami, capicola, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion and Goldie’s sauce.
