Description: Celebrate Halloween in the Bettendorf Public Library's Mad Science Lab. Conduct science experiments and Halloween-themed STEAM activities, including frankenworms, candy corn slime, magnetic flying ghosts, LED circuit jack-o-lanterns, and fizzy pumpkin chemical reactions.

Haunted Hike

Time: 30-minute hike times start at 7 p.m. and end at 9:30 p.m.
Location: Crow Creek Park (4701 Devils Glen Road)
Description: Embark on a haunted hike filled with eerie scenes, mysterious characters, and intense, sudden scares brought to life by local performers from the Playcrafters Barn Theatre. A brief hayrack ride will transport guests from the parking area of Crow Creek Park to the start of the hike.

Morbid Curiosities – An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe

Description: Edgar Allan Poe, the master of Gothic horror, comes from beyond the veil to talk with audiences about his life and share his best stories and poetry, including The Masque of the Red Death, The Raven, and The Tell-Tale Heart. The event is performed by professional storyteller Darrin Crow.

Description: This is a free opportunity for children up to 5 years old to test out their costumes and go trick-or-treating in a safe, welcoming, and warm environment. City Hall will be decorated, and city staff, including the Bettendorf Police and Fire Departments, will be handing out treats.

Date: Saturday, October 24
Time: 6:30 p.m. (no rain date)
Location: 18th Street, Spruce Hills Drive, and Middle Road
Description: This is a way to get a kickstart filling up your candy bags without having to move.
Route: The parade will begin at 18th Street from Bettendorf Middle School’s north parking lot. The procession will travel up 18th Street, turn right at Spruce Hills Drive, turn right on Middle Road, and finish in Bettendorf Middle School’s south parking lot. Road closures will begin at approximately 6:15 p.m., and roads will be reopened as the parade passes the main intersections.
Registration: To participate in the parade, sign up online at www.bettendorf.org/parade by Monday, October 19.
Note: Due to construction at Bettendorf Middle School, space is limited for entries and the number of vehicles per entry.

Description: Need an idea on what to do with your pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns? Watch them drop over the ledge at the Family Museum and smash to smithereens. Pumpkin collection is from 9-10:45 a.m. in the Great Hall.
