Monster Sewing moves from the Quad-Cities
On Wednesday, Feb. 4, posted notices are shown on the front door of Monster Sewing letting customers know they are no longer taking in alterations and they moving to Missouri. One of the notices include Monster Sewing By Mail instructions if customers would like to send their alterations and repairs.
The popular custom sewing and alterations shop, Monster Sewing, closed its Moline shop and relocated to Missouri. The custom sewing and alteration shop was located at 3755 41st Street in Moline.Â
Monster Sewing offered a wide range of alterations on all clothing, as well as custom sewing and specialized in leather, zippers, jeans and formal wear, and was the Quad-Cities choice for biker and military sewing.Â
Even though the owners and tailors, Grant and Kim Sims of Monster Sewing, are no longer in the Quad-Cities, people can ship their alterations and repairs to their new shop in Lake of the Ozarks. Â
Monster Sewing announced on their Facebook page in December that something new is coming in February, "Monster Sewing BY MAIL." It sparked questions if they were leaving the Quad-Cities. The "Monster Sewing BY MAIL" post gave instructions on how to send alterations or repairs, etc. and where to ship in Camdenton, Missouri.Â
"We have had a ton of great customers here and that is why we are offering our services through the mail. Is it ideal, no. Is it something for everyone, no. Will you still get our quality in a fast time-frame, yes. Will you have to pay for shipping, yes. We know it won't work for everyone but if it does sound like something you'd like to know more about...we will need no more than five days to complete the work, you will only have to drive once to a shipper and it will be delivered to you upon completion, we will still have some of the lowest prices, you can do it anytime on any day that you want to," the post read. "If you like what we do and weigh out driving costs and time involved, along with walking through malls or finding someone who can do what you need, it may balance out for you. If not, we wish you the best of luck finding somebody to help you. We have loved being here and have made many great relationships with many, many customers but we gotta go."
Monster Sewing BY MAIL instructions read, "Fill a box with your alterations or repairs by going to your favorite shipper. Text, call, email, I.M., or face-time with instructions and to get an estimate on cost."
The post went on to include an insured prepaid return label. Five days after they receive it, they will return the items completed. People can pay like normal or use Pay-Pal, Venmo or Square. Business phone number will remain 309-716-8411, email address is monstersewing@gmail.com and Facebook page is Monster Sewing. Ship to Monster Sewing, 150 Storm Circle, Camdenton, Mo 65020.
