Players to close in Davenport
Players, a sports bar, in East Village of East Davenport, announced Thursday on Facebook that they will close in January. The sports bar is located at 2218 E. 11th St.
"Players is sad to report that we could not come to terms with the current landlord on a new lease agreement. We have been asked to vacate the building effective January 31st," the post read. "While the run was short, just over 3 1/2 years, there have been many amazing memories and tragedies over those 3 1/2 short years. Please follow our page and relive as many of those memories as we can until we fly out of the East Village of East Davenport."
The post went on to thank patrons for supporting them and that they always tried to provide a fun, family-type atmosphere. Employees and other bars in the East Village of Davenport were also thanked in the post.Â

The sports bar post said to stay tuned, as they do not have an exact "end" date yet.Â
The bar is still planning to have playoff football games playing. The playoff schedule is as follows:Â
- Saturday: Rams vs. Carolina at 3:30 p.m. and Packers vs Bears at 7 p.m.
- Sunday: Bills vs. Jacksonville at noon, 49ers vs. Eagles at 3:30 p.m., and Chargers vs. New England at 7 p.m.
- Monday night: Houston vs. Pittsburgh starting at 7:15 p.m.
El Gallo 502 opens in Davenport
The new Guatemalan and Mexican restaurant, El Gallo 502, opened on Friday, Jan. 2. El Gallo 502 is located at 3839 N. Brady St. in Davenport. The Quad-Cities has a new Guatemalan and Mexican restaurant. El Gallo 502 opened Friday, Jan. 2 at 3839 N. Brady St. in Davenport. The location was formerly Shiki Sushi Bar & Japanese Grill.Â

Sizzle & Smash restaurant coming to Davenport
Sizzle & Smash, a new smash burger restaurant, is coming to Davenport. The new restaurant will be located at 4751 Progress Drive in Davenport, between Candy's Back Bar and Flip's Pancake House - Utica Ridge.Â
The family-owned restaurant announced on Facebook that there will be multiple locations coming soon.
"After years of planning, it's all coming together, and we can't wait to open our doors and serve you something worth the wait. Keep an eye out for menus, hours, and opening dates," the post read. "Our newest concept is heating things up with juicy smash burgers, bold flavor, and that sizzle you can hear before the first bite."

Rock Island Arsenal car wash opens to the public
The Rock Island Arsenal FMWR has a new car wash on the island. The Arsenal made the announcement on their Facebook page.
The Rock Island Arsenal Auto Service Center Car Wash is located at 1740 N. Ave., Building 351, on Rock Island Arsenal. The car wash is now fully operational and celebrated with a grand opening on Saturday, Jan. 10.Â
The car wash accepts cash and credit cards and is conveniently open 24 hours.
