Twice Treasured Children’s Resale Store is one of the newest businesses to open in Milan. The new thrift and consignment store opened its doors on Monday, Sept. 15. The resale shop is packed with new and used clothing from newborn to 16/18, shoes, toys, furniture and decor with great prices. Twice Treasured Children’s Resale Shop is located at 425 Fourth W., Suite 1 in Milan.

Abelardo’s Mexican Fresh is now open in Davenport. The Mexican franchise opened its doors with a soft opening on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The location is in the former Burger King building located at 5231 N. Brady St. in Davenport. This is the first location in the Quad-Cities for the franchise, which has restaurants in Ames, Ankeny, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Coralville and Springfield.

Abelardo’s operation hours are 6 a.m.-midnight, daily. From 8 p.m. to midnight, the lobby is closed and only drive-thru is available. Catering is available at Abelardo’s. Bowlyou’s Ice Cream and Grill in Aledo to close
The Bowlyou’s is ending its family-run business in Aledo on Sunday, Oct. 5. The Bowlyou’s Ice Cream and Grill announced the closure on the restaurant’s Facebook page on Sept. 28.

“April and I want to take a moment to share some news with our wonderful community. After much thought, we have made the difficult decision to close Bowlyou’s. Our final day of business will be October 5,” Brent Bowlyou said in Facebook post.
“We are so grateful for the support, encouragement, and kindness that this community has shown us. Bowlyou’s has been more than just a business—it’s been a place where we’ve built connections and shared so many memories with all of you. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this journey with us,” — Brent and April Bowlyou.
The first store opened in Aledo in 1951 under the name of Tastee Freeze, and was purchased and renamed Bowlyou’s Ice Cream and Grill in April 2016. In January 2019, the Bowlyou’s opened a second location in Milan that later closed in December 2024.
City Loafers ribbon cutting
City Loafers held a ribbon cutting on Friday, Sept. 26, celebrating their expansion into dinner service. Guests can now enjoy a brand new dinner and cocktail menu inside The Current Iowa Hotel, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, located at 215 N. Main St., in Davenport. Two area Starbucks are closed
Starbucks stores in LeClaire and Clinton closed on Saturday, Sept. 27, due to corporate restructuring. The LeClaire Starbucks located at 1281 Eagle Ridge Road was only open for a little over a year. The Clinton Starbucks closure is located at 1917 Lincoln Way and leaves one remaining Starbucks to remain open, located at 901 S. Fourth St. in Clinton.
Starbucks announced plans to close roughly 1% of its North American shops in a message to employees on Thursday, Sept. 25. Some Iowa locations appear to be targeted for closure.
Both stores are listed as “closed” on the Starbucks app starting Sunday, Sept. 29.
JJ’s Auto Service automotive repair shop opens in Davenport
JJ’s Auto Service automotive repair shop in Davenport opens. The new auto shop handles routine maintenance, from oil changes to major repairs. The auto shop is wheelchair accessible and accepts credit and debit cards and mobile payments.
The new auto shop is located at 2833 Hickory Grove Road in Davenport, located inside Jumpin Joey’s.
